NASHSPINNER Successfully Defends Crown At The 19th Binay Cup

PHI — Exhibiting tremendous stamina and fighting spirit winning more than 14 consecutive matches in the final stages of 4 events — 14U, 17U, Men's Non-Rank & Men's Open, Nashspinner Ryan Rodney A. Jacolo retains his 2011 crown for the 14U Boys event at the 19th Binay Cup Table Tennis Championships held in Makati City from March 2-4, 2012.

Jacolo (NASH) eliminated early round challengers from Batangas and La Union, defeated the hardhitting Laguna-SVES aces J. Desiongco, Jr. and C. F. Victorio in the Quartefinals and Semifinals, respectively, and outlasted the fresh K. Cabrido (Makati Panthers) in the Finals. He will now be leaving the 14U category an undefeated back-to-back champion. This talent-rich Boys 14U event of the Binay Cup is a preview of sorts as these same boys might possibly slug it out again, representing their respective regions, in the High School Boys events of the forthcoming Palarong Pambansa 2012 in Pangasinan this May this year.

In the Men's Non-rank event, NASH managed to squeeze past A. Castillon (SMART) & X. Ramos (UE) but lost to L. Sacopla (College of St. Benilde) in the quarterfinals. Nash got lucky in the first 2 sets plaguing Sacopla with an avalanche of net ball points, but in the end, the Benilde stand-out displayed great composure and lots of patience until he got his game going and eventually, as expected, overpower the tiring 14-year old H.S. sophomore.

Joola's Isaias Seronio (PHI) won the Men's Open event besting Coach L.Crisostomo (PHI) of the De La Salle University.
