Bulldog RYAN RODNEY JACOLO - UAAP 73rd Season " Rookie of the Year "

The Rookie of the Year 2010.
National University high school freshman Ryan Rodney A. Jacolo — NASH — of the NU Bulldogs Juniors Table Tennis Team was awarded "Rookie of the Year" in the Juniors Division of the recently concluded 73rd Season UAAP Table Tennis Championships held at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym from September 25-26 & October 2-3, 2010.

NASH, a 2-time Palarong Pambansa veteran (2009 in Tacloban City & 2010 in Tarlac City) and the 2010 NCR Champion in the Grade School level, contributed an impressive 10 win 1 loss performance to the Bulldogs’ campaign which eventually led to a Silver Medal, an improvement to last year’s Bronze Medal output by the Bulldogs before he was drafted into the team.

The Award.
12-year old NASH is thrilled with his most recent award and admits that this is, so far, the highest achievement that has happened in his short 5-year career in Competitive Table Tennis.

NASH, The Player.
NASH learned to hit his first pingpong ball, at the age of 7, on the table of world-class chopper Mr. Jaime Seminiano, of Bicol and Quezon City.

In 2007, he won his first big tournament Championship Trophy in the 1st Q.C. Mayor’s Cup. NASH loves winning, and all the perks that came with it, and became a “certified pingpong addict” and, since then, started getting serious training from his Personal Coach who is also his Father.

He topped his 2008 with back-to-back Championships in the prestigious Makati’s Binay Cup Age Group Category.

The following year in 2009, while in Grade 5, NASH proved himself to be among the best Grade School paddlers in Metro Manila by his stellar performance in the 2009 NCR Meet and representing NCR at the 2009 Palarong Pambansa in Tacloban City under former Philippine Team member Coach Richard Ching. The NCR Boy’s Team won the Silver Medal that year.

The Present.
This year, NASH is on a roll! His 2010 NCR crown and Palarong Pambansa victories in Tarlac qualified him to be one of the top picks for the Juniors Division in the universities. The decision to get him drafted into the Bulldogs’ Juniors Team is proving to be a brilliant one for NASH and his handlers as justified by both his individual and team awards in the UAAP.

*NASH is also a proud member of Amoranto Table Tennis.
